i think the first answer is a good one for you.i would say if you do a search and find hotels that suit you just email them and ask them can you have an overnight guest.some might charge you so i would not go there but that is up to you.i do know of hotels in patong beach that they have a no overnight guest policy.phuket in my opinion is a bit more selective but not much than other parts of thailand.if you were away from patong beach and up around bangala rd it might suit you better.good luck have a good trip
As you have stated "single man" I assume that this means you would want to take women back to your hotel? In that case when checking reviews, see what they say about Visitor Policy or the term Visitor Friendly.
Not all hotels will let you take women back to your hotel. Have a look on http://www.phuket.com also http://www.phuket-info.com. If you want close to the action, Soi Bangla that cuts across from the beach road to the road that runs parallel with it inland of the beach is the centre point of action in Patong, but nowhere is too far away there are loads of tuk tuk taxis there.
